Oil Kumar's friend who didn't know Oil Kumar!

There was no way Sharath Kumar (name changed) would have missed seeing the Kannada superhit, Aa Dinagalu, the film based on real life underworld dons of the eighties. And therein lies a story inside a story. 
Sharath's flat in Chitamala Apartments, Jayanagar was famous for many parties and get-togethers with his close friend for seven years, Oil Kumar, an underworld don to the outside world, but for Sharath, was a businessman who was always well dressed and well behaved.
Despite being very close to Oil Kumar for several years, Sharath did not know or have a clue about his friend's criminal background. Oil Kumar successfully hid it from him, and they had a good time together. 
All of a sudden one day, the relationship literally ended when Sharath read about his friend's murder in a newspaper. A big photograph of his friend stared at him from the headlines with the strange name "Oil Kumar" the Underworld Don, under it. For Sharath it was a double shock: The fact that his dear friend was actually an underworld don by the name of Oil Kumar, and that he had been killed.
Refusing to believe it at first, Sharath thought it could be a mistake by the newspaper. Perhaps they had published the wrong foto? Maybe it was the real Oil Kumar who had been killed, but they had made a big mistake by publishing his friend's photograph, he speculated.
He then pulled himself to his friend's house in Vijayanagar to check the facts. There was a big crowd outside the house. His worst fears appeared to have come true. Fearing for the worst, he momentarily thought of going away, but old memories of his friendship came in the way. How can I go without seeing him? He bought a wreath with tears over flowing in his eyes and paid his respects to Oil Kumar's wife. 
Even today, Sharath does not know how or why his friend his real identity from him? The film Aa Dinagalu stoked his memories, but has not answered this mystery….
