A National Celebration of the Vaish Tradition

The All India Vaish Federation (AIVF) welcomed year 2009 with the unveiling of the Pratima of the legendary Sri Agrasenji Maharaja, the founder of Vaish Parampara, by Her Excellency, President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, on Jan 2.
Five millenniums ago in ancient Bharat, Maharja Agrasenji of Agroha founded the first dynasty of Vaish rulers & started the tradition of welfare state, non-violence, and a socialistic pattern of society to uplift the needy. Since then the Vaish Samaj of India is engaged in serving the society through its entrepreneurship initiatives & tenacity imagination & hard work.
In recent history when fate of the nation went through many ups & downs the Vaish Samaj of India continued to be creators of wealth & benefactors of social prosperity & well being. From Bhamashah to Mahatma Gandhi, Vaish Samaj was directly or indirectly involved in the freedom struggle. Before & after the Independence the Vaish Samaj engaged in trade, commerce & industry continued to contribute to financial & industrial growth of the country by investing in modern technology & innovation so that our budding democracy kept pace with the growth around the world. And when in the nation opened its doors to the world in the era of liberalization the entrepreneurs of Vaish Samaj were ready & prepared to launch the Indian economy into the 21st century.
A firm believer in sharing & spreading the gains of growth among the fellow citizens the Vaish Samaj was always actively engaged in social service, charity & building institutions like hospitals, Dharmashalas & schools. The chain of Agrasen Maha Vidhyalas across the country is a shining example of its socialistic mindset.
Shri Gireesh Sanghi, President, AIVF talking about the Vaish Samaj said that the "Vaish community does not work merely for itself but also contributes to national coffers, generation of employment & is involved in charitable works". According to a release by the Samaj, the community contributes 76% to the national exchequer, 84% to charitable causes which includes building schools, hospitals, sarais, wells and dharamshalas amongst others, 66% of employment generation in the private sector, though it forms only 16% of the whole country's population.

The luminaries of Vaish Samaj who were involved in the growth & development of the country & the society started from Adi kal to Maharaja Agrasenji and continues in the modern times with such great figures such as Lala Lajpat Rai & Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and industrialists like G.D Birla & Gujarmal Modi, littérateurs like Maithilisharan Gupt & Bhartendu Harishchandra, and nationalists like Bhamashah & Jamna Lal Bajaj.
