Workshop on Cinematography

Suchitra Cinema & Cultural Academy and Suchitra Film Society in association with LACE films is organizing a five-day workshop focusing on Cinematography as part of the 3rd Bengalooru International Film Festival. The workshop is conducted by renowned cinematographers Sunny Joseph and G.S. Bhaskar and scheduled to be held from Friday, December 26 to 30, 2008 from 09:00 AM to 09:00 PM on all the days at Suchitra Film Society Auditorium.  Limited seats are available and the registration is offered on first come first serve basis. The topics range from History of photography & motion picture photography, Introduction to the visual language, Introduction to technology aspects of Cinematography (Cameras, lenses, etc), Introduction to art aspect of Cinematography (Compositions, colors, etc), Introductory session on lighting, Introductory session on editing & discussion on the grammar of film language. The workshop will include classroom sessions followed by a film screening.
The 3rd Bengalooru International film festival will be conducted from January 16, 2009 to January 23, 2009 at the Vision Cinemas multiplex, K. H. Patil Auditorium and the Suchitra Auditorium. The Film Festival is being organized in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka and supported by the Kannada film industry.
About Suchitra Film Society
Suchitra, now 38 years old, is a flagship association and a cultural landmark in Bangalore. The Suchitra Cinema and Cultural Academy has under its umbrella the society, Suchitra Kalakendra and Suchitra Bal Jagat, all cut out for specific activities concerning cinema, theatre and performing arts. A large number of film festivals representing the cream of creative cinema from all over the world have been connected so far under the aegis of Suchitra. Seminars, symposia, talks, workshops and competitions make up its spectrum of activities.  Suchitra has held two international film festivals so far-one on a pilot basis in 2003 and another full-fledged event in 2006 in Bangalore Downtown which was a trend setter and became an annual event. The 2nd Bengalooru International Film Festival, held in 2008, witnessed tremendous success attracting film patrons from all over. Presently, Suchitra is on the threshold of a major expansion and will soon develop into a multi-dimensional conglomerate, addressing itself to the progress of media, literature, theatre and other performing arts.
