Ramya to honour Kannada doyens

Ramya Cultural Academy, a forum working for the cause of poor, meritorious students and talented, upcoming artistes, since 1993 is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a two-day cultural extravaganza of music, dance and drama, on Nov 8-9, 2008 at the Ravindra Kalakshetra. A galaxy of luminaries and stars will take part in the Kannada Samskruti Samanvaya Kala Utsav.

Apart from Prof. Chennaveera Kanavi and Dr. G S Shivarudrappa, Dr A H Rama Rao, Dr R V Raghavendra, Sri S Shadakshari, Sri Y K Muddukrishna and Sri Anoor Shivu will be felicitated for their contribution to their field.

Sri Manu Baligar, Director of Kannada-Culture will be the inaugural guest. Sri U A Vasanth Rao, Dy.Commissioner (Resources) BBMP Prof. K E Radhakrishna (Educationist) & Sri Velu, Director, Lahari Recording Co., will be the guests of honour.

* Folk Music by Smt. B K Sumitra, Dr. Banandur Kempaiah Dr. Vemagal Narayanaswamy & Smt. Jayanthi Srinivas Vachana-Daasara Padagalu by Sri Ambayyanuli (Manvi, Raichur) - November 8, 2008 at 4.00 pm;

* Geetha Vaividhya - presided over by eminent poet Dr. H S Venkatesha Murthy and critic scholar Dr. Narahalli Balasubrahmanya.

* Parichitha Geethe - Aparichitha Prasthuthi Choral Singing - Theme based Sugam Sangeet, Kuvempu Namana, Dance by Bharataanjali of Nrutyakalamandiram - November 9, 2008 Sunday, at 10.00 am;

* Shankara Prabhe, Birthday remembrance of Shankar Nag -  'Nataratnakara" Dr. Master Hirannayya & Sri G Venkatesh (Chairman, Sri Vidyaranya Group of Institutions) will preside.

* Select film hits of Shankar Nag, Dr. KSNa's  'Mysooru Mallige' Drama by Kalagangotri - November 9, 2008 at 4.00 pm;

* Poets meet - with participation of Prof. Chennaveera Kanavi, Dr. Sumateendra Nadig, N S Lakshminarayana Bhatta, Dr. Chandrasekhara Kambar, Dr. Siddalinga Pattanashetty, Prof. G S Siddhalingaiah, Dr. H S Venkatesha Murthy, Dr. Siddhalingaiah, Jayantha Kaikini, Dr. Doddarange Gowda, Dr. H L Pushpa, Subbaraya Chokkadi, Desh Kulakarni, B R Lakshmana Rao, M N Vyasa Rao, M R Kamala, Ka. Tha. Chikkanna, and Paintings by Sri Baagooru Maarkaandeya;

* Valedictory by - Srii L Srihari Khoday; Prof. L S Seshagiri Rao will preside.

* Smt H R Leelavathi, eminent Sugam Sangeet artiste will deliver the valedictory address, Justice (retd) Sri A J Sadashiva, High Court of Karnataka, Sri Shankar M Bidari, Commissioner of Police, Bangalore, will be the guests of honour.

With over 200 events till date, both educational and cultural, the academy is a name to reckon with, in Karnataka.
