The Annual International conference on "Environmental Financing Of Global Public Goods

The Annual International conference on “Environmental Financing Of Global Public Goods -State Of Art And Future Challenges, was held recently in the I.I.M B, with delegates from all over the world.

IN THE SPECIAL ADDRESS by H,E, Ann OLLESTAD, Norway’s ambassador to India,  the topic deliberated was the question of finding financial solutions to combat against climate change.

Climate change and poverty ate two biggest challenges the world facing today. All countries will be affected by climate change yet the poorest  countries and the poorest people will be the most vulnerable and will be the first ones to be affected and to be affected the most.

The solution to the global challenge of climate change needs therefore to be part of our fight against poverty, the ambassador said.

She pinned her belief that least cost strategy will be the key to success, which involves minimising the costs of  reducing  the  current and future emissions, including making  low carbon technologies  accessible at  competitive  and affordable prices.

A annual event Managed by Prof A.Damodran is working heavily on the impacts of Global finance meltdown.
