Reader's Grievance
Dear sir
I am a NRI who has come on a holiday and was pleased to read your esteemed paper covering happenings in Jayanagar and other parts of Bangalore. I am a resident of 4th block and an old student of Holy Christ School.
I happened to go on a walk from 32nd Cross to 36th Cross, 10th Main, 4th Block and to my surprise, I found the following in each of the roads:
1) 32nd Cross (Pai Vijay road) is supposed to be the bus route and it is full of potholes, there is simply no evidence of any asphalting of the road. One could see tons of garbage being piled up (next to the transformer).
2) On 33rd cross below La Casa restaurant there is a gambling den and one could see autos and cars parked on footpaths in the afternoons. How can the authorities permit this in a school and residential zone?
3) On 34th Cross a dhobi has put up a hut on the footpath and is living with his family.
4) On 35th Cross (opp to Hande Hall) an educated gentleman has encroached upon the entire road and footpath using it as a garage and repair centre for his old cars.
5) Of late on 36th Cross, the Rashtrothana Kendra, an outfit of RSS - which is supposed to teach discipline and service, have put up construction sheds for its laborers in front of the school (in spite of having large space in its own compound).

I cannot understand how residents, resident welfare associations can keep quiet? Are the police and corporation authorities ignorant of all these? This is the state of a prime locality in the city barely 100 metres from their offices….
Mahesh Rao.
