Jayanagar 5th Block Residents Association

Beginnings: Started in 1983, founded by Late Sri.Markandegowda, the first President of the association. Late Sri K.H. Cheluvaraju, former Vice Chancellor of Gulbarga University was also the President of the Association. It is reportedly the oldest residents welfare association in the city.

Achievements:
1. Shifting of electoral Polling Booth from the premises of Marenahalli Primary School building to the premises on 10th Main, 44th Cross Road, 5th Block which enabled more number voters to cast their votes during the recent assembly elections.

2. More than 600 saplings planted in 5th Block area on the occasion of World Environment Day.

3. Celebrated Silver Jubilee during Jan 2007.

4. Held Interactive Meeting with various public utility departments on 13-8-2008 at Jayanagar MLA’s office and resolved some of the issues.

5. Honored senior citizens above 75 years of age.

6. Conducted free heart checkups on Gandhi Jayanti when over 250 citizens underwent tests/consultation.
Present Issues:

1. BESCOM.
a) Speeding up the work of converting of 11 KVA Switching Station at Jayanagar  3rd Block to 66 KVA sub-station to have an uninterrupted power supply to entire Jayanagar from I Block to 9th Block, BSK 2nd Stage and parts of Basavanagudi area,

b) Shifting of RMU-11 KVA from 46th Cross, 11th Main Road  in front of Sri Raghavendraswamy temple.

2. BWSSB:
a) Laying of new sanitary pipes and drinking water pipes as the same are very old and prone to frequent leakage/blockage.

b) Speeding up of laying of new Cauvery water pipes on 4th main road from 36th cross to 40th cross.

c) Speed up the project of water harvesting park on 40th cross road, 5th block behind BWSSB residential quarters.

3. BBMP:
a) Construction of an underpass at 46th cross road, 11th main road at Aurobindo Circle.

b) Construction of two bus shelters on 46th cross, 9th Main junction for the commuters traveling between Banashankari and Silk Board.

c)To convert the newly constructed Helpline on 10th Main Road, 38th cross road into a Mini Bangalore on the same lines as is existing in Koramangala
