IDL Foundation looks to serve one lakh blind
IDL Foundation have taken up a 10-room building for taking care of their blind children. They are planning to introduce a few new services free of cost, such as English Speaking Course, Computer Training, Mid day meal programme, Hostel facility, Resource and library for blind, visually and physically challenged, and a studio for their famous BLIND BAND troupe of musicians.
An official release stated that they have targeted to serve one lakh visually impaired in the next five years.
Indian Disabled League (IDL) Foundation, a non-profit NGO and a wholly registered charitable trust, was inaugurated by cricket stars Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly in Sep 2003.
Mr PK Paul, the foundation's main trustee said so far they have reached more than 17,500 visually challenged/blind people in Karnataka. In 2006, IDL Foundation received a State Award for providing exemplary service to the disabled.

Their musical troupel, IDL Blind Band, comprising visually impaired musicians and singers, play a variety of instruments like Guitar, Keyboards, Rhythm Pad, Flute, Tabla, Triple Congo & Bongo with 6 singers, who knows more than 250 multi linguistic songs. They are a first of its kind in Karnataka, who have performed before a who's who of the world, such as Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy, Indian cricket team, film stars and the Indian army. Recently, they gave a much appreciated musical tribute to Dr Rajkumar.
