11 officials booked for corruption

Continuing its battle against corruption, the Lokayukta filed chargesheets against 11 officials facing charges under Prevention of Corruption Act. According to the sources, the Lokayukta police have filed chargesheets against four officials in Bangalore and seven officials in other districts.

The move follows the Supreme Court verdict which stated that prior consent from the government was not needed to file chargesheets against officials facing charges of corruption. Though 11 officials have been chargesheeted, the government had rejected sanctions for prosecution of four officials.

About 110 officials including IAS/IPS officers are facing corruption charges under Karnataka Prevention of Corruption Act.
