Bangalore, 10th June’12: $ 10,000 Toyota ITF Bangalore Open which is the third and final leg of the current ITF Men’s Tour in Karnataka begins at the Kingfisher Signature KSLTA Stadium here on Monday, 11th June’2012 and the Final is slated on June 16th. Mr. Sunil Yajaman will be the Tournament Director and Ms. Sheetal Iyer will be the ITF Supervisor and Chief Referee.
The first two events held at Mandya and Mysore respectively evoked a huge public response and some high quality fare from the players, and the Bangalore ITF Open is also likely to witness a slew of keen contest.
The consistent performers on the current tour have been the Mysore champion Vishnu Vardhan who made amends for missing out on Mandya tournament with an impressive title triumph at Mysore. The champion Vishnu Vardhan who is the second seed here said, “I hope to carry on with the momentum and put up a good show in Bangalore also”.
Other key Indian contenders will be the third seed Vijayant Malik, who was finalist at Mandya and semi finalist at Mysore and sixth seed Sriram Balaji who was a semi finalist at Mandya and finalist at Mysore. One can expect good performances from fourth seed Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and the fifth seed Ranjeet Virali Murugesan. The main foreign contenders in the fray are the top seed Ti-Chen of Chinese Taipei and the seventh seed Kittiphong Wachiramanowong of Thailand and incidentally Kittiphong defeated the top seed in the quarter finals of ITF Mandya Open. Davis Cupper Karan Rastogi who is nursing a soured shoulder and Mandya Open winner Saket Myneni who is scheduled to play in Germany however do not figure in the Bangalore event.
For the Toyota ITF Bangalore event Vishwanath Savadi, Venkat Iyer, Tejas Chaukulkar and the local lad Sagar Manjanna have received wild cards.
On the first day (tomorrow) the third seed Vijayant Malik takes on Bangalore lad Vinod Gowda in a repeat of the clash between the two at Mysore. Malik had beaten Gowda in the second round at Mysore. While the top seed Ti-Chen meets Australian Scott Puodziunas. Thai Davis Cupper Kittiphong meets qualifier Yogesh Phogat, the other seeded player to play on the day will be the eight seed Francesco Vilardo of Italy who meets Warit Sornbutnark of Thailand. Monday’s card features six singles and six doubles matches.
